Yeahbut, by this logic, you're limited only to that which is brewed *in* Pilsen, isn't it? Don't Czechs consider only in-Pilsen-brewed beer to be Pilsner? The rest is all referred to by colour & strength, right?

I try to be consistent and refer to "German" or "Franconian" Pils. But I'm also lazy. Drier, very pale lagers with pronounced hoppiness deserve a categorisation of their own IMO, and so if not "German Pils", then ... "dry, very pale German lager"?

I've also enjoyed a few bottles of Rothaus Tannenzäpfle Pils recently, though it's getting a bit strong at 5.1%, and a bit sweet. But it's nicely hopped.
