I wouldn't say the Krug (normal Lager, no second special beer on yesterday) had much more character than a Pils, as it wasn't dry or bitter like a good Pils ought to be, rather, it was just nice and clean. Reminiscient of Witzgall Vollbier minus a bit of pepper and hint of butter. Quite drinkable, I even managed two.

The Braunbier was very nice at Sauer. Always check the board there (both it and the Hell were listed "vom Fass") and ask what's vom Fass, to avoid potentially missing out on the Braunbier. When I asked him what was vom Fass, he said "helles und dunkles". I clarified then that the "dunkles" was actually the Braunbier. I think they serve it in a Glaskrug by default, as they like to show it off.

Not sure about today, I suspect I will be up for a Bamberg visit, but not sure about the missus. And Tabor does not like to go out in the rain, bless him.

NOW I undestand what you mean by "hell train"...when I posted here earlier about the train from ER to BA being such a hell of a train trip or summat. Well, I did mean that somewhat tongue-in-cheek, knowing that Jason has that train ride (plus a bus connection) as his commute, unless he's managed a car-pooling deal. But yes, there was a 15 minute delay yesterday. 5 minutes' delay for it to arrive at ER, and then we sat in it for 10 minutes before leaving, due to some idiotic, ongoing problems with the doors on the lovely new S-Bahn trains.
