The term "Vollbier" has nothing to do with any colour, Barry. It meany, it's a beer with at least 11% Stammwürze. Germany categorized beer types like this:

1,5 - 6,9 % Stammwürze = Einfachbier
7,0 - 10,9 % Stammwürze = Schankbier
11 - 15,9 % Stammwürze = Vollbier
16,0 - ... % Stammwürze = Starkbier

Just to avoid misunderstandings.
