| I was at the Schwann last weekend. I have a report to post from my trip round the Hohenlohe but I had some scathing comments about the Schwann (spoiler alert): I managed a beer at the Schwann Hotel which has beer from Spielbach vom fass. Unfortunately its served in 0.4l – something that really annoys me as it’s a really underhand way of ripping off the consumer AND suggesting that we are all stupid enough not to notice – just give me a seidla and do your worst with the price. I made my point clear to the waiter when I paid my EUR3.50 (!). The beer itself was a far cry from the brewery in Spielbach (which I also visited that day). Whilst of course it's an accessible place to try the beer if you can't get to the brewery, in my opinion the pub in Spielbach is what it's all about. It could be that the beer just tastes better there (both better quality and the romantic setting), but certainly I would not get excited about the beer drinking it in the Schwann. And 0.4l,. Grrrrrrrr. |
