The little symbol on my HTC (Android, duh) phone only says "LTE", I've never seen "4G". Just "E/G/3G/LTE". And yes, E seems pretty sluggish. I do have a switch to select between only 3G, only 2G, 2G/3G automatically, 2G/3G/LTE automatically.

I've never bothered to try to keep up with what any of that is, despite having "worked in computers" for years and years. (Years and years ago.)
