As a former U lover, I wouldn't call it bland. Certainly, it wasn't highly hopped but it had that flat, yeasty, murky quality that I associate with old Ipa's and other Burton beers. Hard to describe a taste experienced 50 years ago, but it struck me when the first Seidla of U appeared in front of me in that lovely old room that now seems to have been given over to corporate dining. Sad indeed - I wonder what the old regulars make of it?

As for Faessla, ok, it doesn't quite match Spezial for beer quality but the beer is still pretty decent and the atmosphere either in the Schwemm or the room is one of the best in town.
