| I've found the FRA airport coming direct to/from Boston on Lufthansa not so bad. It's a long walk to the Fernbahnhof but even that I can justify as a way to burn off in advance the first beer I'm going to have in Bamberg. Now the Munich aiport I can do without. I find it confusing, the lines at passport control (leaving Germany not coming in) to be long and disorganized. The fact that it doesn't have a Fernbahnhof like FRA is also a detriment. To get to Bamberg from Munich airport you have to hop a bus over to Freising bahnhof then Regensburg then Nuremburg and finally Bamberg and you finally arrive around 3pm. Otherwise take the Sbahn into Munich HBF which I refuse to do because I can't stand the thought of going backwards away from my destination for the first 40 minutes. The journey from FRA is much easier. Fernbahnhof to Wurzburg then onto Bamberg and arrive between 9-10am and have a restorative (to steal Fred's word for it) of Schlenkerla in front of you by around 11am. The only advantage to MUC over FRA is there are later afternoon flights going home to Boston out of MUC. |
